On receipt of your documents from the Consolidator, peruse your paperwork carefully for any discrepancies e.g. incorrect spelling of names, wrong addresses and description of packages or incorrect quantities. If there are any, discuss these with the Consolidator, who will advise you accordingly.
Please travel with your Passport or National Identification Card.
It would be useful, before you make your way to the Port, to call our Shed 2 call Center at 434-6101, to find out whether your items are available for collection.
When asking or allowing someone to clear packages on your behalf, a letter addressed to the Comptroller of Customs seeking to do so, along with two photo identifications, must be submitted.
-
Proceed to the Port's Cargo Gate, which is located on the Harbour Road, between the Sugar Bond and BICO Cold Storage Facility.
-
At the gate of entry to the Port, there is a clerk at the Information Booth, who will issue you a form to be filled out. During peak time, which is usually around Crop Over and Christmas, an additional clerical officer is there to inform you about the availability of your cargo.
-
After you have filled out the form, it is checked by Port Security and a pass is issued and you are directed to Shed 2.
-
On arrival at Shed 2, your first stop is Booth A (Customs). Here, your documents will be stopped for examination and you will be sent to Booth B.
-
At Booth B (Barbados Port Inc.), your documents will be taken from you and you are told to be seated in the designated area. The paperwork is processed, the cargo is picked out and made available for examination by the Customs Officer. The name on the document will be called by the Cargo Supervisor and the number of the examination booth you should proceed to.
-
After the examination, the Officer will direct you to the Assessment Window, the cashier and the last stop in the Customs area, for the Release and the Exit Note. At this point, the registration number of the vehicle transporting the packages and the name of the driver is required. When finished at Customs, you have to take all your documents to Booth F, the delivery point.
-
At Booth F, the clerical officer or the cargo supervisor will take your paperwork and have your items brought out to the vehicle. The package will be verified and then it can be loaded on the vehicle. You will be issued with a gate pass for your items, along with the exit note given by Customs.
Â
With the personal effects and revant releases in order, you may now proceed to the Cargo Gate, your point of entry. The items and releases will be checked by Port Security and Customs personnel, they will take the paperwork they need and give back the customer copies. When this is done and everything is in order, you can leave the Port with your items.
