The arrival of Costa Pacifica, one cruise liner in Costa’s fleet of 12, was marked on Dec. 19 by an inaugural ceremony and plaque exchange between the ship’s captain Roberto Bosio and Assistant Manager, Port Security Services, Lieutenant Commander Fernella Cordle.
This inaugural ceremony marked the 12th ceremony and plaque exchange held this season. These inaugural ceremonies are held to officially acknowledge the vessel’s first arrival at Port of Bridgetown.

Barbados Port Inc. welcomed the stylish MSC Fantasia to the Port of Bridgetown for its inaugural call last Friday morning. The 18-deck ship is the first Italian ship of the Fantasia-class. It has been in operation since 2008 and offers a typical Italian atmosphere onboard.

Barbados is on track to have a record number of cruise arrivals again this year, and just four weeks into the cruise season, the Bridgetown Port has seen an almost record number of inaugurals, including the Marella Discovery 2.

Barbados will be the 2017 venue of the Caribbean region's premier shipping conference, when that nation’s maritime community welcomes delegates attending the Caribbean Shipping Associations’ (CSA) 47th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition, from October 9 – 11.
Barbados Port Inc. and the Shipping Association of Barbados will host the proceedings, which are to be held at the Hilton Barbados Hotel, Bridgetown.
Deono James is a young, aspiring, professional body builder. He has been an employee of Barbados Port Inc. for eleven years, and is the son of Vincent Gill, a dedicated member of the Port staff. Deono began his stint as a casual worker, and has recently become a permanent member of staff, (Shed Attendant) assigned to the Terminal Operations Department.
